International Young Artists


 

The 2011 International Young Artists Competition Theme has been announced!

"Shape Your Community for a Greener Tomorrow"

The theme promotes and recognizes how we can create a cleaner world for the future, along with promoting a good sense of community throughout the world and other cultures.

Medium & Specifications

Only two-dimensional artwork, no larger than 24" x 30" (60 cm x 75 cm), is accepted. Watercolor, oils, pastels, pen and ink, charcoal, photography, two-dimensional mixed media, as well as computer generated art, are all acceptable media. Please do not submit framed artwork. Entries must be mounted on foam core or matted, so they are firm enough to stand on an easel.

Phoenix Sister Cities Commission sponsors the International Young Artists Competition, which is open to all youth ages 13 to 18 residing in the city of Phoenix. The purpose of the International Young Artists Competition is to encourage youth to interpret international themes provided by Sister Cities in their original artwork. Youth can help to extend the mission of Phoenix Sister Cities, earn recognition, and win cash awards for their creativity and ability to interpret the theme effectively.

All artwork will be displayed during the month of March at the Irish Cultural Center in Phoenix, Arizona, and awards will be given out at an awards ceremony. After being exhibited in Phoenix, the winning artwork will be entered into the Sister Cities International Young Artists Competition, where entries are eligible to win more prizes.
