Chengdu, China

City Information

Chengdu has been an important business center since trade on the Silk Road began more than 2,000 years ago. As the capital of China's Sichuan Province, Chengdu is a city of more than ten million people. Also known as the Panda Capital, Chengdu is thought by some to be the oldest established city in the world. It is a hub for railways, post, and telecommunications for southwestern China. Recently, Intel selected Chengdu as the site for a new $200 million factory. Intel's entry into Chengdu was aided in part by the contracts and knowledge from over 20 years' worth of Phoenix Sister Cities connections.

Chengdu is home to the Chengdu Panda Base, a non-profit, world-renowned panda breeding center with over 100 pandas. You can watch some of their videos on Youtube.
