Senator John McCain Among Honorees for Anam Cara Awards in Phoenix on

The Phoenix-based Irish Cultural Center and McClelland Irish Library award three distinguished business and civic leaders with highest community service honor.
Who: Persons of Irish or Celtic descent, or anyone who wants to be Irish, are welcome to join the celebration dinner to honor three accomplished individuals during the annual Anam Cara “Soul Friend” Awards Gala, hosted by the nonprofit Irish Cultural and Learning Foundation in downtown Phoenix. Ticket are available for advance or event day purchase. Guests will be welcomed by an official Pipe band, enjoy a grand Irish feast, Irish music and dancers; all in the authentic surrounds of the Irish Cultural Center and castle that holds the McClelland Irish Library.
What: “Every action of our lives touches on some chord that will vibrate in eternity,” said the great Irish poet, Sean O’Casey. The annual Anam Cara Awards are celebrated to recognize individuals of Irish or Celtic heritage that have lived their life with outstanding service to their community. The 2014 slate of accomplished honorees include:
Senator John McCain, Senior United States Senator from Arizona
Janice Ryan Bryson, Historian and Author of Irish Arizona
John Harnett, Founder and President of the Irish Technology Leadership Group, Silicone Valley
Irish Cultural and Learning Foundation Board of Trustee President, Jim Daugherty, is proud to recognize these outstanding individuals for their contributions to the mission of Celtic cultures on a regional and global scale. “I am ecstatic that we are honoring this esteemed group of leaders that have made such a meaningful contribution to our mission, which can be summarized in Gaelic as ‘caithfimid as gaelige a roint,’ we must pass the Irish on,” said Daugherty.
