Chengdu Committee member Elena Zee recently was awarded the prestigious ATHENA Businesswoman of the Year Award for her work in the Public Sector. "The ATHENA Award honors women who have consistently invested in themselves, their profession, their community, and especially other women. They have achieved the pinnacle of success within their industry, have mentored women throughout their career, and have dedicated themselves to the community through various activities and charities."
Elena Zee has led a fascinating life, including her family shipping her out of China during the Cultural Revolution to pursue a better life in the US. Elena Zee graduated from Wellesley and Columbia universities and has dedicated her professional life towards improving economic and personal financial literacy through the Arizona Council on Economic Education. Passionate about cultural awareness, Zee also serves on the board of Arizona’s Chinese Chamber of Commerce, which works to promote beneficial relationships between businesses and city government.
