Flinn Foundation – Seed Grants Program
The Flinn Foundation Seed Grant program provides a $100,000 grant over 18 months to no more than 10 biomedical research teams each year. In addition to the initial grant program, up to two of the projects may receive an additional $100,000 throughout the following year. The research team must be associated with an Arizona university, research institution, or health-care system to become eligible for the program.
Bayless Ventures focuses on supporting pre-seed and seed round digital health and technology enable healthcare service companies through funding and active mentorship.
Venture Scale is a six-month long accelerator that provides founders with customized consultation sessions and deep dives into product-market and scaling, as well as a $100,000 grant. To participate, you must be a finalist of the Arizona Innovation Challenge (see Additional Resources).

The Arizona Technology Council is the state’s premier trade association for science and technology companies. The Arizona Commerce Authority (ACA) focuses on advancing the state’s economy through the recruitment of quality companies and jobs for the state of Arizona as well as the expansion of companies already doing business in the state. The ACA is overseen by a public-private sector board made up of Arizona leaders in business and policy. The ACA has several different programs to boost start-ups, such as the Arizona Innovation Challenge, Venture Ready Accelerator, and the Plug and Play Accelerator program.
The Arizona Innovation Challenge (AIC), one of the largest business plan competitions in the country, is designed to advance innovation and technology commercialization opportunities in Arizona by assisting early-stage ventures to scale. All applicants benefit from expert feedback on their business plans provided by seasoned entrepreneurial judges, while semi-finalists and finalists gain access to exclusive funding opportunities.
The Venture Madness Conference, hosted by Invest Southwest, is Arizona’s longest-running capital conference and early-stage pitch event to connect up-and-coming companies with the region’s most active investors.
